Tim is a New York based musician and visionary that took time to sit down with us recently. We knew him from his time kicking around in Charleston. He shares two of his songs, Reveille and One Hit Wonder with us and we discuss big, big plans.
See him at the Triad Theater in NYC on June 28th, 7PM.

Friday May 17, 2024
Friday May 17, 2024
We had a delightful and informative chat on everything about this year's award winning Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition (POSAE) with Mimi Whaley, Tate Nation and Madeline Dukes.
About the festival:
Marion Square is transformed into a beautiful open-air market as some of the finest and most creative local artists exhibit and sell their work. Stroll through the park and browse the artists’ tents as you view original oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, encaustics, photography, and more. With daily demonstrations and all artists on hand to personally answer questions and show their artwork, the Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition offers a memorable experience and a great way to enjoy the creativity of our local visual arts community whether you’re in the market for a new acquisition, or simply window shopping.

Pete Neighbour and All That Jazz!
Thursday Apr 18, 2024
Thursday Apr 18, 2024
From relatively humble beginnings growing up in East London music has enabled Pete to travel and perform extensively. Concert and guest appearances on land have taken him all over Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. In more recent years he has carved a niche for himself being one of very few jazz musicians to reach a wider audience by performing as a Headline Guest Entertainer on luxury cruise ships; thus enabling him to travel to some far flung corners of the world… Japan, Iceland, The Falkland Islands (some six times!) and even Antarctica to name a few. His act, when on cruise ships, focuses particularly on the 'swing era'. The music and stories from that era never fail to ensure an enthralling evening's entertainment.

Don Merckle stops by and shares some songs and stories
Sunday Apr 07, 2024
Sunday Apr 07, 2024
A darkly honest and wry singer/songwriter out of Charleston, South Carolina, Don Merckle’s songs are firmly planted among the fertile mixed traditions of American music. He is a workman's poet, capable of delivering a rock and roll growl or a quiet dose of smoky barroom introspection with equal passion. He has led the popular Appalachian/Irish outfit Loch Ness Johnny, co-fronted the rambunctious Alt-Country American Gun, and founded the jaunty Don Merckle & the Blacksmiths. In his current solo work he is leaning into more stately and thoughtful singing which highlights the darkly emotional lyrical contours that are the hallmark of his best material.

Charleston Mega Artist and Super Fun Guy Tate Nation
Tuesday Mar 12, 2024
Tuesday Mar 12, 2024
Armed with an unorthodox arsenal of knives, dry brushes and assorted unconventional implements, Tate Nation paints in multiple layers of acrylics on canvas-covered wood panels, creating vibrant paintings that are drenched in texture. Tate’s non-traditional paintings are a lively medley of bold compositions, festive themes, and a vivid color palette influenced by Caribbean art.
His works have been commissioned by the U.S. Postal Service, Coca-Cola, Delta and United Airlines, Canon USA, Time-Life, and Radisson Hotels Worldwide, among many others. Tate’s paintings and prints are held in private and public collections worldwide and have appeared in numerous national publications. A former freelance illustrator and featured artist for the 2000 and 2010 Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, Tate has also illustrated more than a dozen books, served as Illustrator-in-Residence for the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, and has been awarded many honors for his fine art paintings and illustrations. Two of his original works have been exhibited in the Society of Illustrators' Museum of American Illustration in New York City.
Check out his gallery 257 King Street (between Wentworth & Beaufain Streets; directly across the street from Anthropologie). Catch him by appointment (843-568-9911) or by chance.
